What Connecticut law says
| Rent receipts | Cash only (no request needed). When a landlord receives a cash payment from or on behalf of an occupant, the landlord must give the payer a receipt stating the date of payment, the amount received, and the purpose of the payment. Since July 1, 2025, a landlord must also give an occupant, on request, a copy of the ledger or equivalent accounting for the unit showing charges, payments and any balance or surplus. Source: Conn.
