What Hawaii law says
| Notice before a rent increase | Month-to-month: the landlord must give written notice at least 45 consecutive days before the increase takes effect. Tenancies shorter than month-to-month (e.g., week-to-week): at least 15 consecutive days' written notice. A termination notice given to get around these rules is void. Fixed-term leases follow their own terms. |
|---|---|
| Rent control / increase limits | No rent control in Hawaii; no limit on the amount of a rent increase. Notice of increase: at least 45 days for month-to-month tenancies, 15 days for shorter tenancies. |
