Unemployment Appeal Letter in Hawaii

A letter appealing a denial of unemployment benefits. Appeal deadlines are short and strict in every state — file before the deadline shown below, even if you are still gathering documents, and keep claiming benefits each week while the appeal is pending if your state allows it.

What Hawaii law says

Appealing a denialMost decisions allow 10 days to appeal, and you may get up to 30 days if you have a good reason for filing late. Appeals are heard by the DLIR Employment Security Appeals Referees' Office.
If you were firedYou may be disqualified if you were terminated or let go for misconduct related to your work. Being let go for other reasons, such as a layoff, does not disqualify you.
If you quitYou may be disqualified if you voluntarily quit your job without good cause.
