What Idaho law says
| Notice before a rent increase | For residential leases, the landlord must give the tenant written notice at least 30 days before a rent increase takes effect, and at least 30 days before not renewing the lease. For other month-to-month leases, the general rule allows changing terms on 15 days' written notice before the end of the month. Local governments may not enact rent control (§ 55-306). |
|---|---|
| Rent control / increase limits | Local rent control is preempted. Cities, counties and other local governments may not adopt or enforce laws that set the rent, fees or deposits owners may charge on private residential property, or compel owners to participate in optional federal housing assistance programs. No statewide cap. Source: Idaho Code § 55-306 |
