Evansville Landlord-Tenant Rules
Evansville adds local rules on top of Indiana landlord-tenant law. Here is what is different, with the city code or agency page behind each rule.
| Fair housing (local protected classes) | The City-County Human Relations Commission law for Evansville and Vanderburgh County bans discrimination in real estate based on race, religion, color, sex, disability, national origin, ancestry, familial status (housing), sexual orientation and gender identity. A housing complaint must be filed within one year after the discriminatory act, in writing and signed under penalty of perjury; staff can help draft it. File in person, by mail or by fax with the Commission, 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Room 209, (812) 436-4927. Source is a Commission brochure (Form A-001, 03-09-04); confirm current details with the Commission. Source: Official source |

| Rental registration | Evansville runs a rental registry. Registration and renewal for rental properties are done through the City's online Slate system (slate.tolemi.com/c/evansville-in). Questions go to the Rental Registry department of the Building Commission, 812-436-7887. The registry page does not state who must register, fees or inspection rules. Source: Official source |
