Vehicle Bill of Sale in Iowa
A record of a private car, truck or motorcycle sale between a seller and a buyer. Many states transfer ownership through the signed title itself and use a bill of sale as proof of the price and date. Check your state's rules below: some require a specific DMV form or a notary.
What Iowa law says
| Selling a vehicle: bill of sale and title | A buyer gets no ownership rights in a vehicle except through a certificate of title assigned to the buyer. Within 30 calendar days after the purchase, the buyer must apply to a county treasurer for a new registration and title, presenting the title endorsed and assigned by the seller; the title fee is $30.
