Unemployment Appeal Letter in Kentucky

A letter appealing a denial of unemployment benefits. Appeal deadlines are short and strict in every state — file before the deadline shown below, even if you are still gathering documents, and keep claiming benefits each week while the appeal is pending if your state allows it.

What Kentucky law says

Appealing a denialAppeal in writing to the UI Appeals Branch within 30 days of the mail date of the Notice of Determination, by email (UIappeals@ky.gov), fax (502-564-7850) or mail. A referee decision can be appealed to the UI Commission within 30 days, and then to circuit court. Keep requesting benefits while your appeal is pending.
If you were firedBenefits are meant for people who lose work through no fault of their own. If you were discharged or suspended for misconduct or dishonesty, you may be found not qualified. The Office of Unemployment Insurance notifies your employer, may hold a fact-finding interview, and issues a written Notice of Determination.
If you quitIf you quit for personal reasons, or quit without good cause or without pursuing alternatives before quitting, you may be found not qualified. Abandoning your job or failing to keep in contact with your employer during a leave can also disqualify you. Each quit is reviewed on its facts.
The guide does not list specific situations that count as good cause.
