Lease Guarantor Agreement in Maryland

A guarantor (co-signer) promises to pay if the tenant does not. Check your state's rules below before requiring one.

What Maryland law says

Guarantor / co-signer rulesNo statute limits co-signer or guarantor requirements. A landlord may not require a tenant to buy a surety bond instead of a security deposit (and need not accept one); if a surety bond is used, the bond plus any security deposit may not exceed two months' rent per unit, with up to triple damages for excess charges.
