What Maryland law says
| Notice before a rent increase | Written notice is required before any residential rent increase: at least 90 days for terms longer than 1 month, 60 days for terms over 1 week up to 1 month, and 7 days (written lease) or 21 days (no written lease) for week-to-week or shorter. Delivery is by first-class mail with certificate of mailing, or electronically if the tenant elects. Landlords cannot make electronic delivery a condition of approving an application. Local laws may add protections. |
|---|---|
| Rent control / increase limits | No statewide rent control or statewide cap on rent increases. Local jurisdictions may adopt rent regulation (statewide preemption not found). |
