Mississippi Security Deposit Itemization Letter Template
What a Mississippi security deposit itemization letter must include under Mississippi law, and a fill-in draft that follows those rules.
What Mississippi law requires
Written notice delivered to the tenant that itemizes the amounts claimed. Allowed deductions: unpaid rent, tenant-caused damage beyond ordinary wear and tear, cleaning at move-out, or other reasonable costs from the tenant's default, if the deposit was taken for those purposes. The rest must be returned within 45 days after the tenancy ends, possession is delivered, and the tenant demands it. Bad-faith retention: up to $200 plus actual damages.

Fill-in draft
Replace every [bracketed] item. If your state or city requires specific wording, a specific form, or a translated version, that requirement controls over this draft. Courts dismiss eviction cases over defective notices — if anything is unclear, talk to a lawyer.
