What Montana law says
| Notice before a rent increase | No statute — the Act sets no specific advance notice for a rent increase. A month-to-month tenancy can be ended on 30 days' written notice (7 days for week-to-week), and a fixed-term lease's rent is set by the lease. |
|---|---|
| Rent control / increase limits | Local rent control preempted: local governments with self-government powers may not exercise any power to control the amount of rent charged for private residential or commercial property. No statewide cap. Source: Mont. Code Ann. § 7-1-111(26) |
