Unemployment Appeal Letter in Nebraska

A letter appealing a denial of unemployment benefits. Appeal deadlines are short and strict in every state — file before the deadline shown below, even if you are still gathering documents, and keep claiming benefits each week while the appeal is pending if your state allows it.

What Nebraska law says

Appealing a denialYour appeal must be received by the Nebraska Claims Center, or filed online, within 20 calendar days from the date the determination was mailed. File online at NEworks, by mail to the Nebraska Appeal Tribunal (PO Box 94600, Lincoln, NE 68509), by fax (402-471-1734) or by email (NDOL.Appeals@nebraska.gov). You can ask the Tribunal to reconsider within 10 days of its decision, or file a Petition for Review in District Court within 30 days.
If you were firedIf you were discharged for misconduct connected with your work, you are disqualified for the week of discharge and the 14 weeks after it. If the misconduct was gross, flagrant and willful, or unlawful, you are totally disqualified from benefits based on wages earned before the discharge. Misconduct involving intoxication at work cancels all wage credits from that employer. Courts describe misconduct as wanton and willful disregard of the employer's interests, deliberate rule violations, or negligence showing culpability.
If you quitQuitting without good cause is a common reason for disqualification. The disqualification lasts until you return to insured work, earn at least four times your weekly benefit amount, and are separated from your most recent employer under non-disqualifying conditions.
The agency FAQ does not list what counts as good cause.
