Vehicle Bill of Sale in Nebraska

A record of a private car, truck or motorcycle sale between a seller and a buyer. Many states transfer ownership through the signed title itself and use a bill of sale as proof of the price and date. Check your state's rules below: some require a specific DMV form or a notary.

What Nebraska law says

Selling a vehicle: bill of sale and titleEveryone named on the title must sign the seller's section, and the buyer's name, address, and signature must go in the purchaser's section at the time of sale; a title signed by the seller without the buyer's information is an 'open title,' which is illegal and will be confiscated. The seller completes the odometer certification and must give the buyer a bill of sale or a completed Department of Revenue Form 6 (Nebraska Sales/Use Tax and Tire Fee Statement). The buyer must get a certificate of title within 30 days of purchase by applying to the county treasurer.
The DMV's optional Bill of Sale form says a bill of sale must be completed at the time of sale but the DMV form itself is not required: https://dmv.nebraska.gov/sites/dmv.nebraska.gov/files/doc/dvr/forms/billofsale.pdf.
