Unemployment Appeal Letter in Nevada
A letter appealing a denial of unemployment benefits. Appeal deadlines are short and strict in every state — file before the deadline shown below, even if you are still gathering documents, and keep claiming benefits each week while the appeal is pending if your state allows it.
What Nevada law says
| Appealing a denial | File an appeal with the Appeal Tribunal within 11 days after the notice of determination or redetermination is mailed, sent electronically or personally served (not counting the day it was sent; a deadline falling on a weekend or holiday moves to the next business day). The deadline may be extended for good cause. Source: NRS 612.495 |
|---|---|
| If you were fired | If you were discharged from your last or next-to-last job for misconduct connected with your work, you are ineligible until you earn at least your weekly benefit amount in covered employment in each of up to 15 weeks, with the number of weeks set according to how serious the misconduct was. If you were discharged for assault, arson, sabotage, grand larceny, embezzlement or wanton destruction of property in connection with your work (admitted or resulting in a conviction), you are denied benefits based on wages from that employer. | If you quit | If you voluntarily left your last or next-to-last job without good cause, you are ineligible until you earn at least your weekly benefit amount in covered employment in each of 10 weeks. Quitting to look for other work also disqualifies you until you find work or meet the same 10-week requirement. You are not denied benefits if you left to protect yourself or a family or household member from domestic violence or sexual assault and tried to preserve the job, or left unsuitable work to enter approved trade training.
