Elizabeth Landlord-Tenant Rules
Elizabeth adds local rules on top of New Jersey landlord-tenant law. Here is what is different, with the city code or agency page behind each rule.

The City's Rent Control office resolves tenant and landlord issues under it, such as improper rent increases, higher parking fees and reductions in services. The Fair Rental Housing Board holds monthly hearings on landlords' capital improvement, substantial rehabilitation and hardship applications, open to the public. Landlords file a Rent Control Property Registration Form, and the City posts a vacancy decontrol notice form.
