North Dakota Notice to End a Month-to-Month Tenancy Template

What a North Dakota notice to end a month-to-month tenancy must include under North Dakota law, and a fill-in draft that follows those rules.

Use the official form if there is one

What North Dakota law requires

Month-to-month: either party may end the tenancy with at least one calendar month's written notice, given at any time, unless they agreed in writing to a longer notice or a different notice time. Rent is owed through the termination date. A lease clause requiring the tenant to give more than one month's notice must state the requirement and be initialed by the tenant. Otherwise the tenant may end the lease on the last day of a month with one calendar month's notice. No delivery method or required wording is specified.

If the landlord changes lease terms under § 47-16-07, the tenant may end the lease at the end of the month with at least 25 days' notice (§ 47-16-15(3)).

Fill-in draft

Replace every [bracketed] item. If your state or city requires specific wording, a specific form, or a translated version, that requirement controls over this draft. Courts dismiss eviction cases over defective notices — if anything is unclear, talk to a lawyer.
