Sublease Agreement in Ohio

For a tenant renting their unit, or part of it, to a subtenant. Most leases require the landlord's written consent first — get it, and attach it.

What Ohio law says

Subletting rulesNo statute — lease controls. Ohio's Landlords and Tenants chapter does not address a tenant's right to sublet or assign, so the rental agreement's terms govern (Ohio Rev. Code 5321.06 lets the parties set terms not inconsistent with the chapter).
