Unemployment Appeal Letter in Oklahoma

A letter appealing a denial of unemployment benefits. Appeal deadlines are short and strict in every state — file before the deadline shown below, even if you are still gathering documents, and keep claiming benefits each week while the appeal is pending if your state allows it.

What Oklahoma law says

Appealing a denialYou have 10 calendar days from the mailing date of a determination to appeal. If the 10th day falls on a weekend or state holiday, the deadline moves to the next business day. If the determination includes an overpayment, you have 20 days. You can appeal online, by mail, fax, phone or email, using the contacts listed on the determination. Keep filing weekly certifications while your appeal is pending.
If you were firedYou are disqualified if you were discharged for misconduct connected with your last work, and the employer has the burden of proving the misconduct. State law lists the kinds of conduct that count as misconduct. If you are fired, a hold is placed on your claim until OESC decides whether you are eligible.
If you quitYou may be ineligible if you quit voluntarily without good cause. Good cause is defined in Okla. Stat. tit. 40, § 2-405, and § 2-210 covers leaving work because of compelling family circumstances. If you quit, a hold is placed on your claim until OESC decides whether you are eligible.
