Norman Landlord-Tenant Rules

Norman adds local rules on top of Oklahoma landlord-tenant law. Here is what is different, with the city code or agency page behind each rule.

Habitability & code-enforcement complaint lineNorman has adopted the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) in Chapter 16 of its Code of Ordinances, and the Planning Department's Code Compliance division enforces it for both the interior and exterior of structures. For an interior complaint, the inspector sets up an appointment with the occupant (tenant) to inspect, then sends the owner a list of required repairs and a reasonable deadline; charges may be filed if repairs are not made. If an owner refuses to schedule a required inspection after notice, charges may be filed. Exterior repairs generally get 60-90 days. Only visible mold is an IPMC violation. How we source this page: each state-specific rule links to the statute, court rule or official government page it comes from. A rule taken from a public copy of a state code (used only where the official code is not freely readable online) is marked as a secondary source. Spot an error? Use the contact page to report it.
