What Oregon law says
| Rent receipts | On request. A tenant who asks for written proof of payment is entitled to it from the landlord as a condition of making the payment. It may be a receipt, account statement or other acknowledgment and must show the amount paid, the date of payment, and information identifying the landlord or the rental property. For payments by mail, deposit or other non-in-person methods, the landlord must provide it within a reasonable time after the request. Separately, the landlord must give a receipt for any security deposit paid. Source: ORS 90.140(2); ORS 90.300(2)(a) |
