Room Rental Agreement in Pennsylvania
For renting a room in a home, including your own home. Some states treat a renter in the owner's home (a lodger) differently when ending the arrangement — see your state's household rules.
What Pennsylvania law says
| Tenancy at will | A lease of real property for more than three years that is not in writing and signed has the force of a lease at will only, unless the tenancy has continued for more than one year and both sides have recognized it by claiming and admitting rent, in which case it becomes year-to-year. For a lease of indeterminate time, the landlord's notice to quit must give 15 days from service (10 days for unpaid rent). Source: 68 P.S. §§ 250.202, 250.501(b) |
