South Dakota Notice to End a Month-to-Month Tenancy Template
What a South Dakota notice to end a month-to-month tenancy must include under South Dakota law, and a fill-in draft that follows those rules.
Use the official form if there is one
What South Dakota law requires
A periodic tenancy renews automatically unless one party gives notice of intent to terminate at least as long before the end of the period as the period itself, not exceeding one month (i.e., one rental period's notice for month-to-month). The statute does not prescribe written form, wording or delivery method. A month-to-month landlord changing terms must give written notice at least 30 days before month-end; the tenant may then terminate effective the first of the next month by notice within 15 days.

Fill-in draft
Replace every [bracketed] item. If your state or city requires specific wording, a specific form, or a translated version, that requirement controls over this draft. Courts dismiss eviction cases over defective notices — if anything is unclear, talk to a lawyer.
