What South Dakota law says

Notice before a rent increaseMonth-to-month: the landlord may change the terms, including rent, with written notice at least 30 days before the end of the month, effective at month's end if the tenant stays. The tenant may instead end the lease effective the first of the next month by giving notice within 15 days of receiving the change. No statute requires longer notice for large increases or caps the amount. Fixed-term leases change only at renewal.
Rent control / increase limitsNo statewide rent control, and state law prohibits local rent control. No local government may enact, maintain, or enforce any ordinance or other measure that would control the rent charged for private residential property.
