Vehicle Bill of Sale in South Dakota
A record of a private car, truck or motorcycle sale between a seller and a buyer. Many states transfer ownership through the signed title itself and use a bill of sale as proof of the price and date. Check your state's rules below: some require a specific DMV form or a notary.
What South Dakota law says
| Selling a vehicle: bill of sale and title | A seller of a used vehicle must deliver to the buyer, within 45 days of the sale and delivery, a certificate of title endorsed according to law. In any transfer, the buyer's application for a new title must be filed within 45 days after the vehicle is assigned, with the county treasurer, on the state form, with a $10 title fee (plus other listed fees). A bill of sale is required for titling an untitled vehicle 11 or more years old with no existing record. |
