What Texas law says

Notice before a rent increaseNo statute — Texas law sets no advance-notice requirement for rent increases; the lease controls. A month-to-month tenancy can be terminated (and so in practice changed) on at least one month's notice unless the parties agreed otherwise in a signed instrument. Cities may not adopt rent control except in a declared housing disaster.
Rent control / increase limitsNo statewide rent control. Cities may adopt rent control only if the governing body finds a housing emergency due to a disaster and the governor approves the ordinance.
