Wisconsin Rent Increase Notice

What Wisconsin law says
| Notice before a rent increase | No statute sets a specific rent-increase notice period; the lease governs, and rent cannot be raised during a fixed term unless the lease allows it. A month-to-month (periodic) tenancy can be changed in practice only by ending it at the end of a rental period with at least 28 days' written notice (notice equal to the rent period if rent is paid more often than monthly). Rent increases in retaliation are barred. |

| Rent control / increase limits | Preempted. No city, village, town, or county may regulate the amount of rent or fees charged for a residential rental unit. Inclusionary zoning is also prohibited. Source: Wis. Stat. § 66.1015 |
