Where to ask for a free lawyer or attorney

Pro bono and legal aid programsThe Idaho Volunteer Lawyers Program, on the Idaho Law Foundation's site, relies on volunteer lawyers across the state to provide free civil legal help through advice and consultation, brief legal service and representation. Apply with its online application (processing can take a few weeks) or use its advice clinics, which offer a half hour of free advice on a civil issue. It is not an emergency program, and in some cases it cannot help and may refer you elsewhere. General contact number: (208) 334-4500.
Who qualifies"If you are low-income and need a lawyer for a civil matter, IVLP may be able to help." Eligibility requires a financial qualification and an in-depth phone interview. The page states no income limit. The Simple Wills Clinic is for people who do not own a home or other deeded property and whose estates are valued under $100k.
Cases coveredCivil matters. The page does not list specific case types the program takes or declines.
