Sublease Agreement in Georgia

For a tenant renting their unit, or part of it, to a subtenant. Most leases require the landlord's written consent first — get it, and attach it.

What Georgia law says

Subletting rulesA tenant's right to use the property (a 'usufruct') may not be conveyed without the landlord's consent, so a tenant generally needs the landlord's consent to sublet or assign. Leases for less than five years convey only this usufruct unless the contract says otherwise. The statute sets no reasonableness standard for consent.
