Unpaid Wages Demand Letter in Georgia

A letter asking an employer to pay wages you are owed, before you file a wage claim with your state labor agency or the U.S. Department of Labor. Keep copies of pay stubs, schedules and messages.

What Georgia law says

Final paycheck if you quitIf an employer refuses to pay final wages after an employee quits, the Georgia Department of Labor points workers to two options: file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division or file a wage claim in the Magistrate Court (small claims) in the employer's county.
Minimum wageGeorgia's state minimum wage is $5.15 per hour, but it applies only to employers with more than five employees that are not covered by the federal FLSA, and excludes several groups (such as tipped workers and students). In practice, most Georgia employers are covered by federal law and must pay at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
