Aurora Landlord-Tenant Rules

Aurora adds local rules on top of Illinois landlord-tenant law. Here is what is different, with the city code or agency page behind each rule.

Rental license & yearly inspectionAurora licenses non-owner-occupied rental units under its Property Maintenance Code, and these units get exterior and interior inspections every year. Licenses renew each year by August 31. Landlords must file a City of Aurora Lease Addendum and a background-check affidavit for all residents 18 and older, and send a revised addendum within 14 days of signing a new lease. Questions or inspection scheduling: Property Standards, 630-256-3770.

How we source this page: each state-specific rule links to the statute, court rule or official government page it comes from. A rule taken from a public copy of a state code (used only where the official code is not freely readable online) is marked as a secondary source. Spot an error? Use the contact page to report it.
