Michigan Notice to Pay Rent or Quit Template
What a Michigan notice to pay rent or quit must include under Michigan law, and a fill-in draft that follows those rules.
What Michigan law requires
A written 7-day demand for possession for nonpayment (MCL 600.5714(1)(a); see also the 7-day notice to quit in MCL 554.134(2)). It must be addressed to the person in possession and give the address or a brief description of the premises. It must clearly state the reason, the time allowed to fix the problem, and the amount due when the demand is made. It must be dated and signed by the landlord, attorney or agent. Service: personal delivery; delivery on the premises to a household member or employee of suitable age; first-class mail (service counts on the next regular mail-delivery day); or electronic service if the tenant consented in writing and confirmed electronically. A landlord may not refuse to rent to someone who declines electronic service. Rent due does not include accelerated rent.

Fill-in draft
Replace every [bracketed] item. If your state or city requires specific wording, a specific form, or a translated version, that requirement controls over this draft. Courts dismiss eviction cases over defective notices — if anything is unclear, talk to a lawyer.
