North Dakota Security Deposit Itemization Letter Template
What a North Dakota security deposit itemization letter must include under North Dakota law, and a fill-in draft that follows those rules.
Use the official form if there is one
What North Dakota law requires
Any part of the deposit kept must be itemized. The itemization, the amount due, and a written notice stating any amount the tenant still owes or the refund due must be delivered or mailed to the last address the tenant gave. The deadline is 30 days after the lease ends and the tenant delivers possession. Allowed deductions: damage from the tenant's pet or from the tenant's or a guest's negligence, unpaid rent, and cleaning or repairs that were the tenant's responsibility, minus reasonable wear and tear. Interest must be included unless the tenant stayed less than 9 months.

Fill-in draft
Replace every [bracketed] item. If your state or city requires specific wording, a specific form, or a translated version, that requirement controls over this draft. Courts dismiss eviction cases over defective notices — if anything is unclear, talk to a lawyer.
